WOODRUFF, Kenneth Edward 1910-1962

Obituary from the Minutes of the Methodist Conference 1962, page 221

Born in Nottingham in 1910. He was educated at Trent Bridge Inter-School and Nottingham University College, and received his theological training at Richmond College between 1932 and 1935.

After a short spell as chaplain of Truro School, he was a minister in the Shetland Isles, and afterwards in Staines, Kingston-on-Thames, Guernsey. Amble, Selby, Eccles, Radcliffe. Ellesmere Port, and Brecon. It can be seen that his ministry ranged exceptionally far and wide, and few men can have had experience both of our most northerly and our most southerly circuits. He had a lively and enquiring mind and was an eloquent preacher of the Gospel. He had also a considerable knowledge of our constitution and therefore was always interested in Methodist administration.

During his stay at Abergavenny his health rapidly deteriorated, and for the last two years of his life he was virtually an invalid. In these long and weary months of physical weakness he suffered uncomplainingly and looked forward constantly to the time when his ministry could be fully resumed ; he maintained this undaunted spirit to the end. He died on 9 July 1962, in the fifty-third year of his age and the twenty-eighth of his ministry.
