WEAVER, Edward 1872 - 1962

Born at Brierley Hill, Staffs., in 1872. He studied for teaching at Westminster Training College but later heard the call to the Ministry and entered it in 1898.

After being trained at Didsbury College, he served at Aldershot, Surrey Mission, London Mission, Lewisham, Sydenham, Gosport, Folkestone and Margate.

He is remembered after many years as a preacher of conviction, and he was always interested in assisting preachers in their work and in helping in the training of probationers and local preachers.

On becoming a supernumerary in 1930 he went to live in Bournemouth, and his retirement of thirty-two years was as long as his active ministry.

He continued to preach for many years and found delight in introducing the Methodist Hymn-book to congregations both in town and country.

To the very end of his long life he continued to study and he met his wife’s long illness with courage and cheerfulness.

He died on 4 March 1962, a few days before his ninetieth birthday and in the sixty-fourth year of his ministry.
