LLOYD, John 1867 - 1949

Obituary from the Minutes of the Methodist Conference 1950, page 123

Born at Cwmtwrch, Llanfaircaereinion, Montgomeryshire, in 1867. He entered the Wesleyan Methodist Ministry in 1896, and received his college training at Richmond. He spent all the years of his active ministry in the South Wales District, and was at one time Secretary of the District Chapel Committee.

A man greatly beloved, he was the soul of humility, sincerity, and uprightness. His life of singleness of purpose and Christian intent won others to Christ. He was an ardent student of the Scriptures, and delighted in the exposition of the Word. Ever true to the central themes of the Gospel, he declared the whole counsel of God.

A practical man, he had a love of people which made him a blessing and a help to all under his care. In the homes of the people he was a diligent pastor, and a great friend to all in trouble. His was a gracious and winsome personality, quiet and unassuming. Truly a man of sterling character and Christian convictions.

After the death of his wife he went to Blaenau Ffestiniog, where he very soon endeared himself to all the people, and many there are who mourn his passing. We give thanks to God for this valiant minister of Jesus Christ.

After a brief illness he entered into his everlasting reward on 28th August 1949, in the fifty-third year of his ministry.
